Madrassa Tahfidhul Qur'an Students Education

From 1995 Tawfiq Muslim Youth has taken over the management of the only Tahfidhul Qur’an Madrassa, in Malindi, formerly managed by Jami- Iyatu-Taalimil Qur’an of Mombasa. The Madrassa has an average of 60 students at any given time. This institution provides boarding facilities. It has the following facilities; a mosque, 3 classrooms, 2 dormitories, kitchen, dinning hall, staff quarters for 3 teachers and 2 support staff and 2 commercial blocks of 4 self contained apartments bring in a revenue of KShs 288,000/- ($4,800) per year. This revenue partly maintains the institution. A deficit of KShs 462,000/- ($7,700) is required annually to fully manage this Madrassa.

EDUCATION TRUST

Some bright students from the Islamic community fail to advance to the Universities and advanced Colleges, both locally and internationally, due to lack of funds. Based on this need we have called upon other Muslim organizations to come together and formed a committee. A Trust Fund will be maintained. Selection of students and sponsorship will be subject to availability of funds through sponsors/donors.

BURSARY ASSISTANCE

The organisation continues offering burseries to well behaved children with good grades, from needy families.Annually the society spends between Kshs 200,000-500,000 in support of the program. We require around Ksh 1,500,000 (USD 22,727) to meet the target of those who deserve educational assistancee.

STREET CHILDREN

Muslim Aid of London sponsored, through our organization, an exercise of trying to rehabilitate 10 street children from Malindi. We were responsible during the three months period to ensure they were sheltered, clothed, fed and educated. It was a difficult exercise. At the end of the trial period 6 out of the 10 children were admitted at the Tahfidhul Qur’an Madrassa and is still their learning. This Programme is one way of cleaning the Town streets from the destitute street children. It is our wish to sponsor additional 10 street children in the event of finding additional sponsors.

SKILLS AND TRAINING

In addition at Upweoni Village Polytechnic in Malindi five students were sponsored for electrician course and five others for tailoring at Malindi Sisters Tailoring School. The programme reduced the number of unemployed youths in our town.
We are eager to make this as an annual programme if only can get guaranteed sponsors.
